SMALLRIG 5227 V-Mount Battery Plate

The SMALLRIG 5227 V-Mount Battery Plate is a versatile power solution designed primarily for mirrorless cameras with a flip-out screen. It combines a V-Mount battery mount, an Arca-Swiss quick-release plate, an adjustable LCD screen cover, and D-Tap and USB-C ports, allowing you to power both your camera and additional devices simultaneously. With a 180° swivel design, tool-free quick installation, and cable management accessories, the SMALLRIG 5227 is well-suited for both mobile film sets and more demanding setups.

Quick V-Mount Installation and Arca-Swiss System

The quick-release mechanism allows for efficient installation of a V-Mount battery, reducing the time it takes to get your equipment ready for use. The Arca-Swiss base features an adjustable locking lever and is compatible with most plates built to this standard, allowing you to directly slide in a compatible cage or L-bracket. The base is also extendable, so you can adjust its position to fit mirrorless cameras of various sizes.

Powering Multiple Devices Simultaneously

The SMALLRIG 5227 is equipped with D-Tap connectors rated at a maximum of 8 A per port and a combined current of up to 18 A across three ports, as well as two USB-C ports, making it easy to power multiple pieces of film equipment at the same time. Each USB-C port supports up to 65 W of power and the PD 3.0 standard, as well as QC 2.0, QC 3.0, AFC, and PPS, among others, which expands the range of compatible devices. The USB-C connectors can also function as power inputs, so the board allows you to charge the mounted V-Mount battery using a suitable USB-C PD power source.

Adjustable LCD Screen Cover

The kit includes a modular LCD screen cover with tool-free height and width adjustment. The ability to adjust its position allows the rig to be used with most mirrorless cameras equipped with a tilting screen, and the shield itself helps protect the display from accidental impacts. When using the shield, you can mount a V-Mount battery up to 80 mm wide.

180° Rotatable Design and Secure Lock

The plate can be set at angles of 0°, 90°, or 180°, allowing you to adjust its position to suit your shooting style. The 0° setting makes it easier to store the kit, 90° allows for a more compact configuration, while 180° provides more convenient access to the LCD screen. The stainless steel locking mechanism minimizes play, and the damping system controls movement during rotation and reduces the risk of the battery dropping suddenly.

Better Cable Management and Expandability

The kit includes cable clips and a flexible Velcro strap to help organize the cables between the battery, the camera, and additional accessories. Several mounting points allow you to customize cable routing to suit your specific setup, reducing the risk of accidentally snagging a cable while recording. The plate also features 1/4"-20 threads and positioning holes, allowing you to mount additional components on it, such as articulating arms or wireless video transmission accessories.

Durable and Lightweight Construction

The SMALLRIG 5227 is made of, among other materials, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, silicone, and glass-fiber-reinforced PC, resulting in a durable yet lightweight design weighing approximately 453 g. The kit is compatible with external V-Mount batteries with voltages ranging from 11 to 16.8 V; however, batteries with a nominal voltage of 14.8 V and a capacity ranging from 3,500 to 20,000 mAh are recommended. Thanks to the combination of a quick-mount system, multiple power options, and an adjustable design, the plate serves as a practical foundation for building a mobile photo and video setup.
