SMALLRIG 4183B Cage for Sony FX3/FX30

The SMALLRIG 4183B is a protective cage designed for the Sony FX3, FX3A, and FX30 cameras, which protects the body while allowing you to expand your setup with additional accessories. The design features 1/4"-20 threads, ARRI 3/8"-16 positioning holes, cold shoe mounts, NATO rails, and a QD port, allowing you to attach handles, a monitor, a microphone, an LED light, or a strap, among other accessories. The Arca-Swiss bottom profile allows for quick connection to compatible DJI RS gimbals and corresponding heads and plates that use this standard. The modular design also includes a removable top NATO rail, which must be removed before attaching the original Sony XLR grip.

Stable Mounting and a More Comfortable Grip

The cage is secured to the body using 1/4"-20 screws located on the sides and bottom, which limits the camera’s ability to rotate inside the frame. Protective elements are used at the contact points to reduce the risk of scratches during assembly and use. Next to the battery compartment is an additional hinged arm shaped to fit the camera, providing support for your little finger and improving the comfort of holding the camera.

HDMI Cable Clamp

The kit includes a dedicated HDMI cable clamp that helps stabilize the cable connected to the camera. It prevents accidental movement of the plug during recording, which helps maintain a stable signal transmission. This solution is particularly useful when using an external monitor, recorder, or other equipment that utilizes an HDMI connection.

Extensive Accessory Mounting System

Numerous mounting points allow you to customize the cage’s configuration to suit your shooting style and the equipment you’re using. 1/4"-20 threads and ARRI 3/8"-16 holes allow for the installation of arms, grips, and monitor mounts, while NATO rails facilitate quick attachment and removal of compatible accessories. Cold shoe mounts can be used to attach a microphone or LED light, and the QD port and additional holes allow you to use compatible wrist or arm straps.

Quick Mounting with the Arca-Swiss System

The Arca-Swiss bottom profile allows for direct mounting of the cage on compatible DJI RS gimbals, including select RS 2, RSC 2, RS 3, RS 3 Pro, RS 4, RS 4 Pro, and RS 5. It can also be used with compatible Arca-Swiss-standard heads and plates, including the dedicated SmallRig Arca-Type Quick Release Plate 3154, though depending on the system used, a suitable adapter or additional plate may be required. The frame is constructed from aluminum, stainless steel, silicone, and fiber-reinforced PC plastic, providing protection and extensive configuration options while weighing approximately 190 g.
